Presentation of the program of the International Festival of Contemporary Dance in Lisbon and of the project Passport for dance, Lisbon Dancing.
CUMPLICIDADES is a festival dedicated to contemporary dance centered on the principles of reinvention and diversity. Promoted by EIRA, artistic structure with 25 years of existence, this dance event counts on with a pair of different programmers in each edition. It stands out for always seeing its programmatic line renewed and also being a partner of reception spaces ranging from traditional shows to alternative venues. These characteristics bring with it the possibility of extending throughout the Lisbon map a community constituted by a new public, created by the intersections of the different publics and spaces.
COMPLIANCE for the second consecutive year wins the EFFE 2017-2018 seal. The label distinguishes the best festivals in Europe for its commitment to European art, community and values.
"The festival brings together two daring proposals by Tânia Carvalho that is based on repetition, with 7 shows on 7 consecutive days of presentation; the challenge of Abraham Hurtado to a collective of artists assembled by open call, attentive in the variation, in the difference, with the reconfiguration of the same artistic proposal in 7 spaces, in the same 7 days. Addressing the data acquired from very short career programming practices for dance shows and providing creators of provenance and diversified experiences a week on stage. Now, it will be up to the public to respond to this challenge, enjoying creative universes and stimulating aesthetic incursions, brought together by two attentive eyes to the current dance, without neglecting what happens in its margins”.

ARTISTIC SCHEDULE 7X7X7 – 10th TO 16th of MARCH
- 7 national shows per day, presented during 7 consecutive days, in 7
Spaces, in Rua das Gaivotas6, Teatro da Trindade, ZDB Business, Espaço Alkantara, Teatro Ibérico, CAL - Arts Center of Lisbon and Marvila Library.
- International project with 7 performative variations, one per space, presented in the same days.
This peculiar format of presentation proposed by the invited programmers of the Compliances 18, Tânia Carvalho and Abraham Hurtado, appeals to a greater representation of the dance in the Portuguese stages and it contradicts the (too) short careers.
Following the path started last year, the international dimension of COMPLIANCE'18 will remain focused on the countries of the Mediterranean region. Abraham Hurtado, the guest programmer has launched an open call to select five dance artists in their widest spectrum to develop a collective play. Some 300 artists responded to the appeal, with the finalists coming from Spain, Greece, Turkey, Israel and Italy.
The artistic process will take place in Centro Negra, an artistic creation space in Blanca, Spain, followed by the absolute debut in Lisbon. "The Territory of the Bodies" will be presented in seven distinct spaces, for seven consecutive days, maintaining a common structure, but always changing, proposing seven variations in response to each of the spaces.

DANCE PASSPORT: Lisbon dancing!
What is it?
The "Dance Passport" is an initiative inserted in the CUMPLICIDADES and is a project of development and public awareness in a concerted strategy with the Lisbon Parishes, schools, collectivities and dance teachers of Lisbon. It is intended that the inhabitants of Lisbon, of different age groups, can experience the different styles of dance taught in the Lisbon parishes. Thus, it contemplates a wide and diversified circuit of dance classes gathered intensively in a week, from 3rd to 10th of March.
The main aim is to foster a taste for dance in its broadest spectrum and to promote its continuous and / or more regular practice. The "Dance Passport" promotes and disseminates the existing resources related to dance in the different parishes of Lisbon. It is an approach to local dynamics, emphasizing their diversity. For a week, an extensive and complete schedule of open classes promotes active and healthier citizenship.
The "Passport of Dance" has the partnership of 11 parish councils and more than 30 dance schools and communities in Lisbon. European Dances, Lindy Hop, Milongas, Ballet, Belly Dances, Contemporary Dance, Forró, Folklore, StreetDance, Biodanza, Scottish Dances and Salsa are some of the dance styles that will be part of this great dance celebration.
Exhibition of the Dance Passport at the Aljube Museum
In partnership with the professional schools ETIC, World Academy and Escola António Arroio, the "Dance Passport" will be fully documented both in video and in photography. This photographic and video material will be exhibited at the Aljube Museum. The inauguration will take place on March 16 and will remain until the middle of April
