Does not seem crazy in these times of poor adherence to cultural events, betting precisely on creating a new theater group?
GG: Well maybe we are trying to convey a message that is even this, that people value the madness. Sometimes people spend money on superfluous things that contribute nothing to their welfare, for their happiness and we want to show its worth betting on theater, because what we are willing to show the people of Madeira is that there really is margin within crisis for people to have fun and forget their problems. That is a good bet. We have to counter this crisis is and that what we're doing to do.
What other goals you have plotted for the "rumindo and conclusindo"?
GG: You know dream is something we do and as Fernando Pessoa says "dreaming is part of life" and that helps us go further. Now, at this point, we slowly, we almost achieve this dream, we'll see where it takes us and if public acceptance is that we expect why not having something else up the sleeve.
Why did you decide to accept the invitation to join this group?
Filipa Garcês: Since I know myself I always had a taste for the theater. I worked with all these elements of the group, the amateur side and always admired the work of all the elements while actresses. As it was a good experience I decided to repeat it but in a different registration. That was another reason that led me to work with them.
Marta Garcês: I worked in professional theater here and then I was also developed in the same profession with reputable people in Lisbon, with Miguel Dias, that was my training. I did revues, musicals and children's theater. So now my goal is to pass to the remaining members of the group all this experience in the theater. We are all in the artist business and so we decided to take the step forward and us to come together as a group.
Mara Abreu: The fact that working with people who turn out to be more than friends, almost family is to go back to the origins, do what we like, that is comedy. Following what is our way of being on stage, to work and I think that is what will make the difference, because as already said Marta we went through many projects and worked with many people, but the truth is that the four already known each other for a long time now and decided to do it seriously in a professional manner. I do not have specific training started in the school play and the truth is that we were gaining greater visibility, more like a double, Marta and Mara. Now, while the four are all working to the same, though with different levels I don't notice any difference in terms of more or less experience.
That is due to the fact that is a group exclusively of women?
FG: No, I think it was just a coincidence, because if there was a male element we also worked with him. Being only women in the group is a novelty that we present.
