DEças and more

Written by  yvette vieira fts sérgio garcia

"Diz-me mais deças" is a day of rehearsal between two actresses on a play written and directed by António Gomes Pereira and with texts from Eça de Queirós and Clarence Gillis and Personal of quotes, Camões, Aleixo, Cervantes, Einstein and many others. Villa Rosa and Susana Cacela give life to these two actresses who end up imitating their respective artistic personalities. Are they or not the characters? Find out.

"Diz-me mais deças" is a conversation between the two. You pick on each other why?
Villa Rosa: We do not pick on each other.
Susana Cacela: Is not picking on each other too much, is a thing or two (laughs)
RV: The play gives the feeling that we do that, the shrikes are small as we say in the theater, while the actresses are rehearsing. They like it, have fun in the play they are friends, the director does not even appear, they want to stay there to enjoy themselves.
SC: Are we chose the texts and we always agree about it.
RV: There is only one sketch I do not let her do, but it is part of the play.
SC: It's to create some excitement to the public, I always ask for a text that is "ratland". Many people in th public thinks that the text does not exist, but it does and I spend time asking the Rose "will we do ratland?" and she says "No, let's do something else." I am always more peaceful than her, she is more nagging, but in a good way. At the end of it, she let me do "ratland" and is a great joy to do it, a big explosion, it was very cute.

What is the difference between the characters? You play actresses, which differ from the characters and you actresses?
RV: Little or no different. Clearly there is always a small hidden character that is revealed, but we who are doing the show and we are more or less the characters. She is very fun, go through life laughing, it's calm. In real life, I am the most effusive, the busting person. On stage, characters or not, has to do with our personality.
SC: Of course we do characters in the readings of texts. António Gomes Pereira wrote a text "we are not that" that we say in the show and we say are no character apparently is only the dramatic approach, but we are more of us than characters.

Is there any phrase or text that define them or you like more?
António Gomes Pereira: The phrase that defines the piece is "Diz.me mais deças”.
SC: We're not that.
AGP: This text was written specifically for them and because of this situation. People do not realize very well if they are been tested or not, whether they are in character or not. There are parts that take on the character, but the rest of the time it looks like they are having a conversation and at the end the audience does not get to realize that all this was written.
SC: It is very natural and our conversation is all learn by heart (laughs). It is a very naturalistic performance as it were.

And very interactive in the show last night the public participated a lot and almost could not finish the play.
RV: We finished the whole play, but our director and author has a great difficulty in finishing pieces, because he has four finals, for him we were a week in stage acting. (Laughs) Yesterday the play was made whole, which is just not saying it's a joke we do with the name of Eça. All texts that are part of the play were all told.
RV: It was just another joke.
AGP: The text is a test, so that throughout the show they will refer many texts and say "oh this does not enter" or "I will not say this." At the bottom there is a difference between the plays that people are watching and being a supposed test of a show that will be. So they ended up that ends the play. They did the extra text.

António which was the guiding principle for all the texts of various authors and yours?
AGP: The Portuguese and humans. The thread was 800 years ago the Portuguese making the same blunders. The biggest problem was getting the play to stay with an hour and a half, since it is the third stage of the show, when we started rehearsing the texts were double those that were, I was doing a slimming cure until we get this result hour and a half. The Eca de Queiros has a lot and we hardly used almost nothing, we used opinion pieces and not novels. After that we realize that we say a text written my me last week and a Eca with over 100 years and has the same topicality and it seems that we are talking about the same thing.
