But, I've seen a self-portrait painted by you.
FS: I have more than one up. The self-portraits may be more than what we imagine, but even in other works in which the representation is not me say a lot about.
Tell me about the painting of the doll.
FS: This work is based on an image I saw on the internet. A collector started selling a doll and so stripped it to show that the body was intact, there are pictures of the back so we can see the mark on the neck. When I saw those pictures I thought immediately about pedophilia, because it is a doll, a childish one, which has placed on the neck a necklace of pearls that is typically used by an adult woman and yet is still stripped to the waist. All this caused me such an impact, I decided to paint it. By exposing this work I plan to remove it from the context in which I had seen it and although at first glance the canvas looks very sweet, cute even, because it is a doll, over time is Machiavellian. Already several people have asked me to sell the painting and hang it in the bedroom of a child but I never allowed. That does not fit anywhere, not even in a living room. It's terrible to say this about the painting, its bad marketing, but true.
So why show it?
FS: It must be exposed. Should not it be in a family room, nor be seen by children.
And your latest creation, an installation, what is the context?
FS: The piece in the gallery Mouraria is a painted tarp with two meters of length and was crafted in three dimensions. Will be shaped and is called "nhec-nhec." This term comes from an anecdote told in my childhood. I find it interesting this idea of trying to grab something, but we do not know what it is. I decided to put hooks, sharp ones, like those at the butcher and that somehow caught this "nhec-nhec." All this is within the art forum, which is we are looking for something that nobody saw, do not know if it exists but one thing is for certain: that we will find it.
What is the route you intend to do as an artist? Apart from your work in "Mads" and other cultural groups.
FS: The one I foreseen and want is to be a creator. Whether or not is going to be too complicated to live from an artistic activity. It is a priority and I not see it as something that I can stop, it will always be continuous. No matter if I find other means of support. Anything goes. I always do this work.
