The song of the earth

Written by

It is an original story by Jorge Brum de Castro who is also the director of this troubled love story.

The plot of the song of the earth takes place in Porto Santo. The background scenario is the daily life of a people dependent on agriculture and water. A persistent drought is the theme for a movie full of action, chase scenes and music, much in the style of American Westerns that influenced the director of this film. It is a sort of documentary in a way, because evidence of the difficulties experienced by the populations of Madeira. It was filmed in 1938 and therefore also reflects a certain cinematic style of the time. It's black and white, but this does not prevent the aesthetic beauty of some of the images, chopped planes that give a more dramatic intensity to the plot and the curious end with people who run to the top of the mountain to see reach the desired rainwater that ultimately falls in all directions. It is a Portuguese ending.
