It is a fashion brand design created by young designer Mariana Sousa seeking to appeal to more youthful and charming spirit of Portuguese women at any age.

Why you decided to pursue a career as a fashion designer?
Mariana Sousa: Because it is been with me since I was young, my mother is a seamstress for over 30 years; I grew up in the middle of the fabrics. Her dream was to have been a stylist, her daughter continued this desire. But there is no single reason, however, if I knew what I know today had not done the course of fashion design, had taken up as a hobby and would have chosen another. It's a fairly complicated area; no one gives us the deserved value.

Tell me how you create the collections? Where do you get inspiration? It is only in the trends, or is also influenced by other factors such as the materials, in the case of the island, flowers, landscapes and embroidery.
MS: For example, this spring-summer collection inspired me in hydrangeas, because who goes to the north of the island area, note these gorgeous flowers, the colors and format. I picked fabrics with textures; everything reminded me of this flower. The latest collection for autumn-winter 2014 brings the autumn garden, through the colors of the woods, leaves, overlapping and did everything I see here a forest inspires me.

What were the main challenges for some of the pieces that you presented this last presentation? There was some material that appears more difficult or not really?
MS: No, I have woven lining chairs, think are the best textile to work and have a high quality.
You used them for coats?
MS: Right, got also synthetic furs, meshes with mixed colors and various types of yarn, but I had no difficulty working with. The patterns for knitting I do it myself and that I have two ladies who work with the machine.

Always have people working with you?
MS: Yes, because no one can do anything in this area alone. I am lucky to have my mother to work with me , she is the main part , she is the main key and has a excellent work for me it is the best seamstress in Madeira, is very perfectionist and has great finishes . We make a good team.
Who are the Peekaboo women?
MS: They are women from 16 to 40 years of age, because I think my outfit is youthful, with charm and comfort. Covers various age groups and this is my goal, " attacking " the teenagers , because they are my future customers while also showing to the more mature people they can use a my pieces.

You have many coats and knitwear, does not become a challenge due to the weather?
MS: Yes, because we have a tropical climate. I added these pieces because I can use it, do not say in the day -to-day, but during the evening.
Have you thought about expanding your brand off the island?
MS : Yes , I created an online store even because of it , had customers out who asked me for the clothes, but it is a site that is still not very comprehensive because I do not have much time. Sometimes it is easier to contact me via facebook is a social environment that facilitates contact and we easily reached agreement on sending clothes.
What are the biggest difficulties you encounter as a designer? No you just confined to the island.
MS: One of the challenges is to sell a lot because I always have to buy new materials and having new things, I cannot stay just for a collection, waiting for the whole sale. Then there's another factor people not appreciating the clothes, they want cheap and good things and do not realize that we have inherent costs, because to get a good piece of design is necessary to have good materials, have good finishes and that means not having a price low, this is not a factory. Still, there is a public that does not understand this, a textile company can produce many pieces at the same time affordable, and I do not.

So there is no great awareness in Portugal that ideas pay up.
MS: There is already a great improvement percentage, but there are always people who demand good and cheap.
So how lackluster your future as a young designer?
MS: I do not know its one day at a time. So far it has not been bad at all, I will continue. I'm getting by, I can have affordable pieces and other more expensive, have the two sides and I think this is quite important, I can sell different clothes.
